Add years to your life and life to your years!
NextStage Productions is a 501c3 charitable non-profit organization that uses the creative and expressive arts to bring positive energy to the way people view or experience aging.
We transform lives through creative expression for self-discovery, connection, and empowerment. We facilitate transformation by amplifying the innate social-emotional benefits of the arts. By offering easily accessible learning programs we provide opportunities for community engagement and a legacy of improved health and happiness. Our theatre arts programs range from empowering students through storytelling, to helping seniors reclaim their dignity with creative expression.
By teaching, we co-create, and improve the quality of life of our participants. We use adaptive teaching approaches to create a safe space for artistic growth and development of new skills.

Who We Are
We are a team of professional teachers, artists and community leaders dedicated to providing affordable programs to make the aging journey more comfortable and hopefully more fun!
The driving force of change says Stuart Kandell, Artful Aging, is the demographic “Age Wave.” Every day in the United States 10,000 people turn 65. Every day! And this will continue for the next 17 years. People 60+ are retiring or working less and asking the question: “what’s next?” They seek new challenges, meaningful activity, ways of staying connected, opportunities to give back, and new skills to help them shape new “careers” for the next twenty to thirty years. Likewise, the growing numbers of people who care for older adults in families and institutions are seeking non medical ways of keeping them engaged, healthy, creative, and happy.
We support the National Center for Creative Aging (NCCA) initiative:
“To build a world where every individual flourishes across their lifespan through creative expression.” – National Center for Creative Aging
Provide affordable Create Arts events to make the aging journey more comfortable and hopefully more fun! Our events provide easy access to information on educational, heathcare, and civic opportunities available in Santa Cruz County.
Vibrancy is what we accomplish as we provide opportunities for individuals to be creative through our educational and outreach programs.
